Cohort Groups Start TOMORROW!
Everyone meet in LORI’S room at the start of 3rd period- we will review cohorts and expectations, then split into separate cohorts. 

Starter: Thesis Rubrics
  • Honors Senior Thesis Rubric
  • Senior Thesis Rubric (non-honors)
Read carefully over the rubric for your senior thesis.  Then answer the following questions:
  1. Which of the major categories are you feeling most confident about?  Why?
  2. Which of these categories needs the most revision?  Explain.
  3. Based on what you’ve read here, what are the top three specific revisions you need to make to your thesis?

Schedule a Meeting with Lori

Thesis Critiques

Revision Priorities/Checklist
Use this helpful resource to plan your revisions- do them in the order they are listed here, and do a little each day for the next two weeks!

Schedule a Meeting with Lori
Need additional one-on-one help with specific thesis revisions?  Schedule a meeting with Lori for next week during 5th and 6th, or during the morning on Wednesday!  To do this, send Lori an email that includes the following:
  1. Day and period you would like to meet
  2. ​What, specifically you want to discuss about your thesis- where do you need help, and why are you struggling?

Thesis Critiques
  1. Get into your critique group
  2. Complete the critiques you had scheduled for today
    1. Read and comment on their drafts

  1. Send SPAM 3 email to your SPA, and share your RD Senior Thesis with them.  This should be the version you are revising on! If you need to quickly unsubmit your draft from Google Classroom to share with them, please do so. 
  2. Need to turn in SPAM 3 Form by TUESDAY 4/4, at 3:30 pm.  This gives you a full week!

Thesis Revision Plan
  1. Critiques will happen this week- today, Weds, Thursday, Friday
  2. You will get feedback from your SPA sometime this week
  3. I will be providing you with a revision schedule and checklist this week, and will be scheduling specific reviews/workshops for those interested later this week and next week.
  4. Once we start COHORT GROUPS on Friday, I will also be available 5th and 6th to meet with you, or to give you a quiet space to work on your senior thesis.

Wait…what about our project?
  1. We need to rip through critiques this week.
  2. Starting on FRIDAY, you will all meet with your cohort groups during 3rd and 4th periods. 
  3. Next week, cohort groups will meet 3rd and 4th, except for Wednesdays, which are off-campus work days (unless you want to work here!). We will ask you to document your progress on Wednesdays. 
  4. More details on cohort groups, project assessment, etc. coming on Friday.

Critique Structure

  1. Completed an alphabetized Works Cited with every source that is mentioned in my paper (Read it but didn’t use it? Don’t include it.)

  5. Made a copy of your RD Thesis, and shared it  with your Senior Project Advisor AND Lori

Clarification Parenthetical Citations:

  2. EX: "Monkey Face Societies: An Examination of 9th Grade Students", would become in the citation, ("Monkey Face" 17).

  1. Complete the example as a class together- highlight relevant aspects and then answer the questions at the bottom.
  2. Then complete the Transition Assessment before moving on to writing time.

  2. Complete each step of the assignment.  If you don’t have a paragraph to do it with it yet, write first, and do this as soon as you have a TEA paragraph with evidence.
