See this for extensions for things like severe illness or extenuating life circumstances (see syllabus to see if this applies to your situation).

The 1-per-student Extension Rule and Request Guidelines- HOW TO GET YOUR 1 FREE EXTENSION per semester
Submit your request in an email the night before the assignment is due. That email must include
  1. the reason for your request
  2. the date by which you think it appropriate to submit the assignment. 

​THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO EXHIBITION PRODUCTS OR THE  FINAL DRAFTS OF SENIOR THESIS, TED TALK, or PROJECT.
