Thesis Statement Critique + Outline

2/6/2019

Announcements:
  1. Remember, you should have sent your SPAM 2 email last week- if you haven't sent it yet, do it now!
  2. The month of February will be intensive.  Plan on working outside of class more days than not to finish a quality thesis by the due date.

Thesis Statement Workshop- This has been POSTPONED due to Seniors not showing up to class.  :(
However, those of you who were not here today, your thesis statements will be counted as LATE.

Outlining
Once you have a thesis statement that has gone through the critique process (see Senior Project page for this!), you should start outlining.  My suggestion is that you start thinking about Part 3, and thinking about how you want to organize this section.  Think about major themes in your research, different arguments that are made about your topic, and start making groups.  Then move on to outlining Parts 1 and 2.
  • GOAL:  Identify major themes/arguments for Part 3 of your paper.
  • GOAL:  Outline parts 1 and 2 of your thesis

HOMEWORK:
Work on your outline!  The sooner you finish (and get it approved by Lori), the more time you have to write!

Thesis Statements and Outlines

2/5/2019

NOTE- From this point on, all documents linked below can be found on the SENIOR PROJECT page of my DP!  I will not be linking them in every post here.

  2. Time to work on it!

Work Time Goals:
  1. Draft a working thesis statement that we can critique tomorrow
  2. Start your outline!  My suggestion is that you start thinking about Part 3, and thinking about how you want to organize this section.  Think about major themes in your research, different arguments that are made about your topic, and start making groups.  Then move on to outlining Parts 1 and 2.
  3. GOAL:  Identify major themes/arguments for Part 3 of your paper.
  4. GOAL:  Draft a working thesis statement for your paper

HOMEWORK:
  1. Draft a working thesis statement (it can be crappy!).  This should be a 1-2 sentence answer to your research question.
