  2. Behind? Emailing parents this Friday. If you are behind on your outline and/or rough draft this Friday, I will be emailing your parents about your lack of progress. CATCH UP.
  3. LORI IS OUT WITH COVID- This means you need to have lots of independence and discipline this week!  Please feel free to email me with questions this week. 
  4. THESIS RD (complete!) is due next Friday at the end of the day.  
  5. WEDNESDAY- Library. Kyle will be taking attendance at the library this week.  Please use your time more effectively than you did last week.

Starter- Paraphrasing in Academic Writing

  2. Complete each step of the assignment
  3. Spend no more than 30 minutes on this- if it’s taking longer than that, something is going wrong!

  3. Bring ALL RESEARCH to school next week- We will be outlining your senior thesis, and you will need all your articles and notes. If you need a research binder, grab one from my cabinet.

  1. Senior Project Advisor Letter 2:  This letter is a guide to asking for your second meeting, focusing on outline, thesis, and conclusions.
  • Best SPAM 2 Letter EVER:  Do this.  Seriously, do something like this.  Your advisor will love you.

Read this document carefully.  Jot any questions or clarification you need in the margins.  Then we will review as a class and I will answer your questions.

    1. Now share it one person, incorporate ONE SUGGESTION for revision into your thesis statement.

Project Week 2- Goals, Notes, Reflection
You should spend the rest of class completing this document.  Here are my expectations:
  1. Every question is answered thoroughly, with at LEAST one robust paragraph.
  2. You are specific and detailed in your responses, and you use concrete examples.
  3. Your documentation is detailed and specific- documents are linked, photos are inserted, and all of what you have done this week is apparent on the document.
  4. The whole document is thoroughly proofread for grammar and spelling.

PM pod, you have Humanities 3 and 4.

Starter
  1. How confident are you, right now, in your ability to pull off your action project in its entirety at a high level of quality?  Rank yourself from 1-4 (1 = not very confident at all, 4 = exceedingly confident).
  2. If you ranked a 1 or 2, what do you need to do today and tomorrow to raise your confidence level?  What barriers are you hitting?
  3. If you ranked a 3 or 4, what has allowed you achieve this level of confidence?  What specific things have you done to raise your confidence level?

Off Campus Work Wednesday
If you plan to work off campus on Wednesday (let's just assume we don't have a snow day for now), I need an email with the following from you.  I will reply to that email to let you know if you have permission or not.  You will still need to attend Stats and Advisory regardless. 
  1. Names of people working off campus
  2. Specific list of tasks you need to accomplish off-campus (if you don't have these accomplished on Thursday, I will lower your Action Week grade by 10%)
  3. Where you will be working, and why that location is appropriate for your tasks.

  3. What structures could I put into place this week to help keep you on track?

This is not optional, it is MANDATORY, and you will be required to attend until I have determined that you are fully caught up with where you need to be in Humanities.  Essentially, if I don’t have your Annotated Bibliography or your Deep Reading revisions at this point, you are in study hall MWF until you’ve caught up.

Project Week 2- Goals, Notes, Reflection
  1. Look back at your REFLECTION and GOALS AND NOTES from the last test week, to remind you where you left off.
  2. Use these documents to fill out the project description, and to create a DETAILED and SPECIFIC to-do list for today. 
  3. TO GO OFF CAMPUS, I need, in an email, the day before you plan to leave:
    1. Who will be going
    2. Location
    3. Reason for going
    4. How long you will be gone
    5. Photographic or other evidence that you did what you said you would do.
  4. Sign up for a conference over the next few days.  In this conference, we will discuss the following:
    1. What is the current state of your project?
    2. Who are you meeting with/do you have a mentor?
    3. What are your goals for this week?  What do you need to achieve these goals?
    4. How can I help you?  What other help or resources do you need?
    5. What does it look like at the end of this project, if your project is successful?
