EXHIBITION DAY!

EXHIBITION TONIGHT!
  1. Meet in Lori's room tomorrow during 3rd period to start our debrief.

Today's Schedule:
  1. 3rd Period- AHS
    1. ​Finishing touches on projects, any last minute printing/painting/editing/yelling
    2. Packing list and gather materials.  CLEAN UP.
    3. Figure out cars and transportation
  2. 4th Period- AHS --> Fairgrounds
    1. Transfer all supplies to Fairgrounds, unload
    2. Start setup
  3. LUNCH- 12:00-12:45
    1. Break for lunch
  4. 5th Period- Fairgrounds
    1. ​Set up Exhibition, get it perfect!
    2. If you have 6th period class, make sure you leave in time to get there on time
  5. 6th Period- AHS or Fairgrounds
    1. If you have a 6th period class, you should be back on campus for that
    2. If you don't have a 6th period class, stay and keep setting up (as needed)
  6. 4:00- Fairgrounds
    1. ​Eat something BEFORE you come, or bring food to eat during the Exhibition!  Otherwise it will be a long night.
    2. Gather for final pep-talk, review, and preparation.
  7. 5:00- Fairgrounds
    1. ​Doors open, first group starts running through
  8. 7:20- Fairgrounds
    1. ​Last group starts running through.  Once they are through your room, you can start breaking down your setup and loading into cars.
  9. 8:00- Fairgrounds
    1. ​All hands on deck for breakdown and car loading

    1. ​Everyone should attend to critique
    2. Artists should have TWO printed copies of their artist statement's, and their art piece (or a picture of their art piece on their phone to share with their critic).
    3. Each artist statement should be critiqued by two people

    2. Need a group of 10-15 students to participate/critique

DEADLINES AND BENCHMARKS:
  1. Project Managers, Coordinators, and Marketing Meeting- 5th period, Kyle's room
  2. EXHIBITION- THURSDAY, 11/30, 5:00-8:00pm, Fairgrounds.

Weekly Goals:
  1. Run Through- Each group should do a complete run-through on Tuesday, complete with an audience.  You should set up as close to your exhibition setup as possible.  Please schedule these at different times so that Kyle and I can attend.
  2. Logistics- We need an overview of how the logistics of this exhibition will work.  I suggest creating a document with the exhibition flow (and a map?), a timeline for each group (by the minute), scripts, schedule (with RSVPs) and exhibition roles for me to link to on my DP.
  3. Marketing- Get posters up.  Get invites out.  Start gathering RSVPs and times.
  4. Editing- All written elements will go through editors this week!  Be nice to your editor, and get them your stuff early.
  5. Printing- Any visual elements that need printing (on school printers or plotter) should be done by lunch on Wednesday.  If you need the plotter, talk to Dusty TODAY to schedule a time with him to print.  Make sure the editor sees anything that is printed if it has words on it!
  6. Artist Statements- We will be doing critiques of Artist Statements for the art group on Tuesday.  Art group, you will need THREE printed copies of your artist statements for critique.  Artist statements must include the following elements, and should be at LEAST two solid paragraphs:
    1. ​Explanation of you piece, including the message, and the symbolism of elements in your piece.
    2. Discussion of the research you did (yeah, you should probably quote some of it...this is where those research notes can come in handy!) that informed the design and message of your piece

    3. Project Coordinator:  Check in on latest revisions and additions to the project.  How can you make the pieces of this project seamless and integrated?  What do you need from other project groups to accomplish this?
    4. Curator:  What are your plans to make your project pop?  Have you seen our space?  What are you thinking about in terms of lights, color, sound, art display (think about frames, not just hanging bare canvas/paper!)?  What do you need from the rest of the group to pull off your vision?
    5. Marketing:  Make sure you have adult eyes on written invitations before they go out to check for accuracy and proofreading.  Visual advertising should be posted around town (where?) before Thanksgiving break.  Are you thinking about radio?  Newspapers?  TV?  Social Media?  How can you market this Exhibition in a way that makes people really want to attend?

DEADLINES AND BENCHMARKS:
  1. LAST DAY for Research Notes- If you have not turned this in, you have an email from me, and a zero in IC.  Also, you are failing my class.  If you don't turn them in by the end of 6th period today, the zero becomes permanent, and it is highly unlikely that you will be able to pass my class.
  2. Terrible First Drafts- Must be developed and ready to go by THURSDAY or FRIDAY.  
    1. Conversation: Seminar Questions and 3 Corners Questions, ready to run practice discussion, by FRIDAY, 4th period.  In addition, you have a venue chosen and booked, and a floor plan.
    2. Advocacy:  Draft of booth and information, plus list of organizations you have contacted and what they need by FRIDAY, 5th period.
  3. Class Project Framework- The marketing group needs every person to update the final column with the interview person name and email, so they can send out invitations.
  4. Mock Exhibition (to work out the kinks)- Thursday, 11/16, Commons, 1st period

      2. Discussion of the research you did (yeah, you should probably quote some of it...this is where those research notes can come in handy!) that informed the design and message of your piece.
    2. Experience:  Make refinements based on your practice run yesterday.  Visit the venue during 5th, make a to-scale floor plan.  Start working on visual elements for stats, refine question.
    3. Conversation:  Critique 4th period.  Make sure you have it set up like you want it by the start of 4th, so we don't waste time waiting for you to be ready!
    4. Advocacy:  Critique 5th period.  Be ready with a mock-up of what you will display.  Make sure you're ready at the start of the period!

Third Period

  1. Check in with your group, make sure everyone knows what they need to accomplish today for group and individual tasks.  Work on it!
  2. Things to Think About
    1. ​Art:  Get an artist statement written!  Should include your research, explain the message of your piece.
    2. Experience:  Make sure you have a plan for debriefing your group after your practice run today.  What questions will you ask them to get the feedback you need?
    3. Conversation:  Venues?  What do you need from me to lock it down?  Do you have participants chosen for your practice run tomorrow?
    4. Advocacy:  Get your interviews scheduled, do as much research on the organization as you can on your own before the interview, so that your interview is efficiently filling in the holes of your research.  Think about...what do you need from the interview to make your display informative, accurate, and engaging?

Fourth Period
  1. Artist Critique in Commons- The more eyes we have on this, the better, so if you can take 20 minutes at the start of the period to critique art pieces and artist statements, do it.

Fifth Period
  1. Experience Trial Run- Want to participate?  Give feedback?  Come on in!
