POLs Day 5- Slides and Critiques

SENIOR POL SCHEDULE

DUE DATES- ON TIME​​
  1. POL Slides. DUE: Day before your POL. SHARE with Lori and Kyle.
  2. Honors Final Reaction Writing. DUE: Friday, 12/9,  Start of Class.
 
DUE DATES- LATE (-10%)
I am still accepting the following assignments:
  1. Fall Project Self Assessment
  2. TPS Report

Reminders:
  1. CHECK THE SCHEDULE!!!
  2. Professional dress is required for presenting (but not for paneling)
  3. Bring a writing utensil
  4. Make sure you have copies of your TPS report and any other necessary documentation for the panel, and that you have shared your finished slides with Lori and Kyle!

Work Priorities
  1. Finish drafts of slides
  2. Notecards for presentations
  3. Critiques in second half of class

  1. Students in groups of 4
  2. Gather your stuff together (notecards, slides, etc.)
  3. Decide on roles
  4. Present/Critique Protocol
  5. Revise!  Finish all the things!

  1. ANY LATE WORK FOR HUMANITIES. DUE: Monday, 12/5, 8:30 AM.  NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. This applies to the following assignments ONLY.  No other late work will be accepted.
    1. Sr. Project Research Phase 2
    2. Fall Project Self Assessment
    3. Fall Project Essay 
    4. TPS Report

Announcements:
  1. HONORS: No meeting this week.  Finish the book, and complete your final written response by next Friday (I will post this assignment today).
  2. REMINDER: NO MORE LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED AT THIS POINT.
  3. You need to get a library card by the end of winter break! Set a reminder now!

Class Activities

​Reminders:
  1. TPS Report is due beginning of class TODAY. This TPS Report should be turned into Lori on Google Classroom.  The document should be saved as your name (johndoe). 
  2. Triple check the POL schedule to make sure you know your presentation AND both panel times.  Has everyone made reminders in their phones?!?!
  3. Draft of POL Powerpoint is due half way through class Tuesday for peer critique.

Work Time Goals
  1. Finish the handout by completing the table on the last page under “Apply Yourself”
  2. Get a rough draft of at least ½ of your  PPT slides, and ½ of your presentation outlined. (Make sure you have note cards on your talking points for each slide!)
  3. Do more research as needed!

  4. SJCC Trip- Need to be there by 8:45 AM (leave Durango at 7:45 AM). We will attend sessions in the morning, break for lunch, attend one afternoon session, then debrief as a group before returning to Durango
    1. If you need/want to be driven there and back, please sign up on Lori’s board, and be here at AHS no later than 7:40 on Friday morning.

This Week’s Questions:
  1. How has my preparation this semester developed my ideas for my senior thesis and my senior action project?
  2. Where are gaps in my plans, and what feedback would be most helpful in further developing my ideas?

STARTER:
  1. Look at San Juan Campus Map. Make sure you know where you are going, and where you are parking!
  2. Look at list of conference presentations.  Highlight ONE from each morning session that you plan to attend.  Tomorrow I will give you your assignment to be completed during these presentations.
  3. Look at the poster and passive presentations for the afternoon.  Highlight TWO that you would like to visit.
  4. BRING THESE DOCUMENTS AND A WRITING UTENSIL WITH YOU TOMORROW!
