Project Task Lists and Work Time

SENIOR SCHEDULE CHANGE: From now until further notice, your schedule is as follows.  
  1. ​3rd:  All Seniors meet in Lori's room for instructions and check ins.
  2. 4th and 5th :  Mandatory work time to work on your project.  This must be done in Lori's room, Kyle's room, or the Commons.  Our rooms will be open 6th period as well.
  3. Wednesdays:  2nd all meet in Lori's room before splitting into project groups  for 3rd and 4th.

DEADLINES AND BENCHMARKS:
  1. Research Notes- These are now LATE.  I must receive them by the end of the week, or there is no credit possible.  Check your grades in IC!
  2. Project Managers and Coordinators Meeting- 4th Period Tuesday, Kyle's room.
  3. Terrible First Drafts- Must be developed and ready to go by THURSDAY or FRIDAY.  
    1. ​Art:  Sketch and Artist Statement Draft by THURSDAY, 4th period.
    2. Experience: Questions and Information, ready to run, by THURSDAY, 5th period.
    3. Conversation: Seminar Questions and 3 Corners Questions, ready to run practice discussion, by FRIDAY, 4th period.  In addition, you should have a venue chosen and booked, and a floor plan.
    4. Advocacy:  PowerPoint with information, plus list of organizations you have contacted and what they need by FRIDAY, 5th period.
  4. Mock Exhibition (to work out the kinks)- Thursday, 11/16, Commons, 1st period
  5. EXHIBITION- THURSDAY, 11/30, 5:00-7:00pm (location TBD)

TODAY'S TASKS

Group Task Lists
  1. Make sure your group's project proposal is shared with Lori and Kyle
  2. At the bottom of your project proposal, create a table with 3 columns.  Label it "Group Tasks".
  3. The first column should be the task, second is the name of the person who is doing the task, and the third is the deadline.
  4. As a group, fill in the group task list.  Make it detailed, split up tasks, be efficient.  What are all the pieces that need to get done, AS A GROUP, to complete your project?

Individual Task Lists
  1. Once your group task list is complete, make yourself an individual task list, with deadlines and tasks.  Make sure you think about your role in your project group (editor, curator, etc.).

Check in with Kyle and Lori
We will come around and check in with each group starting at 10:45.  Have your group lists ready, and your group gathered in one place.  We will talk to you about:
  1. Group Task List (tasks and timing)
  2. Individual Tasks
  3. Project ideas (warm and cool feedback)

Project Managers and Coordinators Meeting- 4th period, Kyle's Room
This group will meet to tackle the following:
  1. Exhibition venue
  2. Flow and sequencing
  3. Points of connection (in terms of content and information)
  4. Exhibition roles
  5. Other?

HOMEWORK
From now until Exhibition, your homework should be whatever you need to do to complete a refined and amazing project.

Project Tune Preparation
  1. Figure out roles (facilitator (1), presenters (2), timekeeper (1)), tell Lori
  2. Prep for Project Tune.  Need to have:
    1. Visuals- These could be hard copy or slides, but should help the panel envision the idea for your project.  
    2. Project Proposal Copies- 10 copies of your project proposal
    3. Guiding Questions- TWO guiding questions or areas of feedback for presenters
    4. Presentation- 5-10 minute prepared presentation of project ideas.  Overview, rationale, important details, where should we focus, where should we NOT focus?  I suggest running through this presentation at least once today to check length and clarity!
  3. Lori and Kyle will meet with:
    1. ​Facilitators (to run through the protocol, answer any questions)
    2. Timekeepers (very briefly)
    3. Presenters

​ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  1. Dropping books (Too much to do!  Too little time!).  This is not ideal, but it happens- hopefully you got something out of it!  Please bring them back to me unless you are going to use them for your project.
  2. Research Notes are due on MONDAY at the start of class, digitally shared with Lori.  Make sure they are complete!

Project Proposal
  1. Take time in your group to brainstorm individual project ideas, and group project ideas- your group will need to figure out what this process looks like for you guys!
  2. Remember, your project or contribution should in some way connect to the research you have been doing.  If you are struggling with this, talk to Kyle and/or Lori!
  3. Each group makes a COPY of this sheet
  4. Fill it out!

Project Tune Preparation
On Monday, we are going to have a project tune.  A few people from your group will be presenting your project ideas (as documented on the google doc you create today) to a panel composed of members from other groups.  For this project tune, you need to prepare the following:
  1. 5-10 minute presentation, with PPT or Google Slides, that details your group’s ideas and why you think they would be effective.  This presentation could include…
    1. Sketches
    2. Handout (probably a good idea to make copies of your project proposal for the panel)
    3. Visuals
    4. Relevant research
    5. Inspirations
    6. Other?
  2. A guiding question for the critics- what do you need feedback on?  Where is your project idea weak?
  3. The format of the tune will be as follows:
    1. 5-10 minute presentation of project proposal and guiding question
    2. 5 minutes of clarifying questions
    3. 10 minutes of probing questions
    4. 10 minute discussion/ideas/feedback
    5. 5 minute response and reflection

HOMEWORK
  1. Research Notes:  Due MONDAY, Start of Class.  Share or email to Lori.
