• Bring group gear on Friday for our group gear check!  Put it in the Commons.
• MAKE SURE you have all your individual gear packed and ready to go when you get to school on Monday!

​Summit Preparation

1. Get into groups with the other people in your stakeholder group.
2. Together, you should brainstorm ideas for, and write, the final analysis.

(20 min)

Summit Preparation: Evidence and Proposal Planning
In your group, you need to work together to develop a proposal to present to the rest of the group.  Your proposal needs to include:

1. 3-5  concerns (how does this group define the problem?)
2. 3-5 specific quotes from your documents that support your concerns (
3. 3-5 Potential solutions that your group would support

(20 min)

Bears Ears Summit
As a Utah state official, Sarah will be facilitating this discussion.

1. Present your proposals
2. Find common grounds and sticking points
3. Try to find a common solution that balances the 3 spheres
4. Make sure you stay in character as the group you are supposed to represent!

(45 min)

Summit Debrief:
Come together as a whole class and discuss:

1. Were you able to find a solution?  Why/why not?
2. Where were you able to find common ground?  Why/how?
3. What were the sticking points?  Where did this get contentious? Why?
4. Ultimately, where do you stand right now on the Bears Ears controversy?

HOMEWORK: Bring all GROUP GEAR to the commons tomorrow for a group gear check 5th period!
