Deep Reading and Conferences

2/3/2016

Check In-
How did working out of the classroom go?  More productive?  Less?

Announcements
  1. Fort Lewis Library Cards!  Great news- if you are over 18, you can get a free library card to the Fort Lewis Library.  This gives you access to a HUGE database (much bigger than the public library's) of journals, books, etc.  I highly recommend this to you if you are struggling to find resources, or if you are finding many articles that are not available in full text.  You need to bring your driver's license (or other state issued ID, and a piece of mail addressed to you at your current address.

Conferences
Today and tomorrow I'll be conferencing with everyone.  In these conferences, we'll talk about...
  1. The sources you've found so far
  2. Problems you're running into with your research/research question
  3. SPAM 1- Done?  Scheduled?  What's happening with this?

Deep Reading Continued...
By the end of the day today, you should have deeply read (meaning that you have amazing annotations, lexicon, and reading notes/annotation key) at least one source.

HOMEWORK:
  1. Work on Deep Reading assignment (DUE Thursday, February 11, SOC)
  2. 5 sources are found, deeply read (meaning that you have amazing annotations, lexicon, and reading notes/annotation key) at least one source.
  3. Complete SPAM 1 this week.  Make sure you fill out the form completely before turning it in to Lori- remember, there's a quick reflection component you have to do on the back! (DUE Monday, February 8, by 3:15)
