Deep Reading: Get that sucker done!

1/13/2017

Announcements:
  1. SPAM 1:  Rememember, your SPAM 1 deadline is next THURSDAY!  You must have your meeting and turn in the SPAM 1 form by 3:30 on that date.
  2. Original Research Folks:  You should have your interview questions or surveys close to final by the end of this week.  That means interview questions should be run by me, and survey questions should be run by me and Kyle.
  3. Off Campus Day:  We will be going off campus next WEDNESDAY.  You will have two options- the Library or Durango Joes by City Market.  For either option, you are required to check in no later than 9:00, and to stay until 11:45.

Starter 8
  1. What themes are you starting to see in the research you are doing?  What threads are you finding that you plan on developing in your paper?
  2. What do you need to do further research on in the next stage of research, where you can look beyond academic journal articles to other sources (interviews, TED talks, documentaries, newspaper and magazine articles, etc.)?  What gaps in your knowledge do you need to fill?

Deep Reading Goals
  1. Finish your three intertextuality paragraphs
  2. Create your bibliography
  3. Check your work against the rubric- make sure that you will fall into the 3 or 4 columns, so you don't have to redo anything!
  4. Print and assemble your Deep Reading Packet.  This should include, in the follow order:
    1. Blank deep reading rubric
    2. ONE annotated journal article
    3. Lexicon list
    4. Reading notes OR annotation key for the annotated article
    5. Three intertextuality paragraphs
    6. MLA bibliography of all five of your sources
  5. Turn that sucker in!

HOMEWORK
Finish, print, and assemble your Deep Reading packet if you didn't finish it in class today.  DUE:  Start of class, Tuesday.  That means printed and stapled BEFORE class starts!
