Heeeeeere we go...Let the outlining process commence!

2/23/2016

Turn in Annotated Bibliography:  Email or share with Lori in the first minute of class.

Week Goals and Objectives:  See my Senior Project Page for this week's daily benchmarks and all class resources and handouts.

Upcoming Classroom Optional Days:
  1. Thursday, 2/25
  2. Tuesday, 3/1
  3. Friday, 3/4

Bibliography Workshop:  We will clarify standards and format for our Senior Project bibliographies.  I will walk you through tools, and you will do a final peer critiques of someone’s Works Cited page.  Yes, this is nitpicky.  Yes, this is tedious.  Just get through it- it will be one less thing to think about when you are panicking and trying to finalize your thesis!  There's a resource on my Senior Project Page to help you with this.

Outline Workshop:
  1. Revisit “Elements” handout.  Let’s make sure we’re clear on all the objectives.
  2. In Pairs:  Look at an example outline to make sure you’re clear on what’s required.
  3. On the examples, note with your partner (like, actually write notes):
    1. How does the author approach each element?
    2. Given the differences between this topic and yours, how will you approach each element?
    3. What do you notice about this outline?  How is it similar to outlines you’ve done in the past?  How is it different?
    4. What questions/concerns do you have?
  4. Now look at Tucker’s annotated example.  Read it, write down any questions you have at this point, and we’ll review it as a class.
  5. Class review to answer questions

Start Outlining!
Your goal for tomorrow is to get Part I (the introduction) outlined, and have a draft of a thesis statement (even if it's crappy).

HOMEWORK:
  1. Outline:  Outline Part 1 of your paper.  Get an initial draft of your thesis statement in there, so you'll have something to work with for our thesis workshop tomorrow.
