Mocket Preparation, Schedule, and Speeches

A Word from your teacher...So, not my kid this time.  I was up all night with food poisoning, and thought I could make it to school this morning.  This turned out NOT to be the case.  Given that you would probably prefer not to be vomited on (if this isn't the case, I don't want to hear about it), I'm staying home today.  It's a terrible day for me to be home, so please take some of my stress about this away, and do EVERYTHING on the list below.  I'll be available via email periodically throughout the day.

Speeches

1. Finish them:  Finish and finalize your speeches
2. Conferences:  If I did not conference with you yesterday, please email me your speech, and I will give you feedback digitally.  You will have an extension on your speech final draft until tomorrow (Saturday).
3. Turn them in:  If I did conference with you yesterday, please share or email me your final draft speech before the end of class today.
4. Practice:  Find a partner (or a small group).  Practice your speech at LEAST 3 times.  Time it!  Work on fluidity, volume (we will not have microphones), and emotional impact.
5. Speech Schedule:  Here's the schedule I have so far for speakers during exhibition.  If you did not yet conference with me, you're not on here.  I'll add you as I give feedback on speeches today.
   

Placards:  How to Make a Placard
Make your placards- these MUST be done for Monday's portion of our exhibition.  Everyone needs one!  There is white cardstock on my desk that you should use for this.  You are welcome to use my printer.  

Lobbyists and Experts- you should have two placards.  One for your senator role, and one for your lobbyist/expert role.  If you want to get all fancy with it, you could put your different roles on different sides of the triangle.

The MOCKET​

1. Print and Read both bills:  Glitter Illegalization Act and 1-800-NOTLINEBLING.  You must have these printed for Monday morning.
2. Read over the MOCKET SCHEDULE.  Minority/Majority Leaders, Secretaries, Committee Chairs, Whips, make sure you're ready to go for all your roles!  If you have any questions, email me.

FOR MONDAY:

1. Bring formal Exhibition dress for the afternoon.  This is the first part of our exhibition, so dress accordingly!
2. Have placards finished, put together, and in my class.
3. Be ready with speeches if you are scheduled to speak in the first committee session.
4. Be ready to help me set up the Commons and my room during 1st period on Monday morning.  Exhibition sheet style.
