  1. Thesis Outline. DUE: Monday, 2/27, START of class.
 
DUE DATES- LATE (-10%)

  1. Action Project Week 2: Goals, Notes, Reflection. LAST DAY TO TURN IN: Thursday, 2/23, END of class.

Announcements:
  1. DEADLINES DON’T CHANGE FOR SNOW DAYS. Even if we get snow days, your outline is still due on MONDAY.  So plan on carving out work time on snow days.  See calendar for details!
  2. WEDNESDAY- Library. Kyle and I are meeting with Rebecca during our work time this week- because of this, everyone needs to go to the library. We will resume library/coffee shop split next Wednesday. 
  3. Advisory is REQUIRED- Osprey Week Meetings this week!

Starter: Elements of Senior Thesis (10-15 min)
Read this document carefully.  Jot any questions or clarification you need in the margins.  Then we will review as a class and I will answer your questions. 

Review of Argument Structure
Review argument structure, common ways that arguments fail. 

Thesis Statements
  1. Look at examples- What do you notice about these?
  2. Write draft thesis statement 
  3. We will do thesis statement critiques on Thursday.  IF WE ARE NOT IN CLASS ON THURSDAY, you will send me your thesis statements for my critiques on Thursday.
  4. Take 10 minutes right now to write your draft thesis statement on the Thesis Statement Critique document on Google Classroom.
    1. Now share it one person, incorporate ONE SUGGESTION for revision into your thesis statement.

Outline Dissection + Mind Mapping
  1. Mind Mapping- Purpose + Examples
  2. Outline Dissection Parts 1 & 2 (linked on Google Classroom)
  3. Review outline assignment (on Google Classroom)

Rest of Class Work Goals:
  1. Complete outline dissection parts 1&2 (see links below for examples)
  2. Review research- use this to develop your main themes for your outline.
  3. Mind Map if this is useful to you
  4. Begin outline for part 1 and 2
  5. By start of class WEDS- Complete outline for part 1
  6. By start of class THURS- Complete outline for parts 1 & 2, started on part 3.
